IT Support Provisioning.
Discussion
I think I'm being a bit of a numpty.
Considering turning a hobby into a business and moving into being a pukka PC system builder.
One of the hurdles that I am looking to get over is the provision of product warranty and related support services.
I'm not really interested in hiring people and setting up a call centre type affair so I'm looking to sub the lot.
I've tried Google but so far havent come up with a list of companies that will provide 3rd party public helpdesk support.
I am after someone who will field calls and provide field engineers as if it were in house.
Anyone know any companies that fit this bill or if indeed they exist - I am sure they do on the latter point but I cant find them.
Any ideas?
Ta.

Understood. I've not found any general / public support TBH... strangely the industry just seems to accept it as well.
Given some of the appalling hardware and software setups I've seen (some of which are respected builders!), I'm amazed no one has done it. I think the issue is that you just don't know what you're going to find.

Anyone have any thoughts on offering PC's with no support?
Seems like commercial suicide on the face of it but I've not rung a support line since about 1994...
Just send them a link to the PH computer forum...
What are the likes of Evesham peddaling..? Seem to recall most people to an RTB warranty job these days....

Or just shorten it to "Pod" ...
or Phib
Warranty and support are really tricky things to forecast.
What about a 3 tier service, ie gold is a 4 hour response and a 24 hour fix, silver is a 24 hour response and 36 hour fix and bronze is "You'll be lucky"?
There was a company who I was looking into using it worked out about £25 a month per unit. I'll try and dig out the info.
It's tricky as to be able to provide any sort of value SLA's you need bulk otherwise it just becomes too expensive. Thats why with what I said above wa basically just attaching our contract onto the 100's of others this company dealt with.
Cheers,
JC
