Hi all,

Just set up a small new venture. 4 directors. Ideally we want a WhatsApp business account (that we can all have access to and reply to clients) but it turns out we need a seperate phone number to do this.

It’s not ideal having another phone/sim. Are there any workarounds without me/us having to get second phones?

TIA

Thanks. But there is actually. I’ve since found out that you can get an e-sim for under £10 a month which will allow you to use WhatsApp business on your normal phone, which will suit us perfectly.

Just get an e sim, use the number to get the whatsapp set up then never use that number again for anything. Whatsapp created.

Keep hold of the esim details as may need to verify the number on occasion?

somewhat confused by the replies in here

you can have whatsapp and whatsapp business both installed on the same phone with different numbers and up to 4 users logged into the same whatsapp gbusiness account (this can also be registered to a landline)

have used this for a number of years in this very way quite easily

Thank you this is exactly what I wanted clarifying. Do you pay a seperate monthly fee for an e-sim? And presumably you have to keep that e-sim indefinitely as that is the number that people will WhatsApp you on (as opposed to paying for an e-sim and then ditching it once WhatsApp business is up and running as suggested by a poster above)?

Presumably also, only 1 of the 4 users needs a second e-sim or do all 4 of us?

not at all

there was a bit of a faff for us setting it up on the work landline as we have an IVR system in place but got there eventually and we pretty much use the free version of whatsapp business with no other sims or costs attached. and have been doing so for several years now

We used a spare e-sim and then everyone else put WA business on their phones or computers and added the account by scanning the qr code. Standard WA is a separate app and it doesn't interfere.

May be easier ways of doing it but it's worked for us.

You can even use a landline. Use the 'call me' instead of 'text me' option to verify the number.

Thank you. How does this work when advertising the WhatsApp number on a website?

Just put the landline number instead of a mobile. Works exactly the same.

We use ‘Air Landline’ to do this for us - it’s £9.99 a month but does give plenty of other features outside of the WhatsApp feature.
