449% increase - revaluation to just outside of small business relief, just means I have another £5000 to find to enable me to stand still, on top of all the other costs going up. Thanks Rachel.
Similar story here. Qualified for SBRR before revaluation, now we don't despite nothing changing.voicey said:

You shoukd get some form of relief though capping the increase?

No, only hospitality matters apparently. I need a celebrity mechanic to get on TV and complain about it in the same way all the chefs have. Do you operate pubs?
As I understand it the capping only applies to the multipliers, as (both) my buildings have been revalued to just above the SBRR threshold there is no such protection.
I am not convinced the software I use at work is currently calculating the small business and supporting small relief correctly. With the appeal deadline of 31March for the 2023 list I don’t have time right now to get to the bottom of it.
However if message me with details of the address of the property (ies) I’ll have a look after 1st April. You may need to remind me !

An update.
After 48 minutes on hold I finally got through to my councils business rates department.
I explained my understanding of the position they (or the government!) had put me in and to their credit they agreed to look at it and call me back.
Which they did.
Long story short, they seem to think that it has been incorrectly calculated and that it should only have gone up by £800. They said that that wasn’t written in stone and that they were waiting for a ‘patch’ from the software company to reassess and possibly recalculate.
My opinion: appalling. If my situation has been rolled out incorrectly country wide then there will have been a lot of small business owners with understandable worries.
I used to pay my rates for the year when I had the bill - admittedly I’m not Heathrow but the 1050% increase seemed absolutely ridiculous, had it been double or triple I probably would have paid it without question.

Which sounds right, your bill will go up by £800 a year under the Supporting Small Business Relief scheme until 2028/9 when you'll be paying £2,400. There will be a revaluation in 2029 and if its anything like this one they'll announce a one year scheme for those on the 2026 Supporting Small Business relief scheme. After 48 minutes on hold I finally got through to my councils business rates department.

I am expecting an outcry next year when those on the 2023 Supporting Small Business Relief scheme come off it, and therefore a new scheme being introduced.
