We are a pretty small operation but growing and our sales guys are putting all their leads on an Excel 'Sales Tracker' which is the way we've been doing it since we were a 2 man operation.

We need a simple to use CRM that just needs Name/Contact Details, product they are interested in and price quoted with a date of last contact, what was said and what needs to be done. Easy for them to keep on top of using their Macbooks or iPhones and so that we can log in and see where everyone is up to and also quickly refer to if the office phone rings when they are on the road.

It doesn't need to be overly complicated, in fact overly complicated will work against us.

Something cheap and simple with an app would be perfect but there's so many out there.

Any real world experience would be great.

Thank you.

You could build that in something like Replit for next to nothing and an ongoing charge of about £20 a month.

That's a new one on me, but looks good, thank you! I'll see how I get on.

Personally I wouldn’t go anywhere near self-building something that is going to store customer data. Have a look at Hubspot.

My wide was a Hubspot partner in a previous life, I tried using it in a previous business and found it a little bit OTT for what we needed. Capsule CRM was pretty easy but even that was a bit overkill.

Check out softr.io, free tier will probably give you what you need, mobile friendly etc.. you can get something as simple or complex as you need very easily.

What about Trello?

Based on the old T Card system. Can create a card for each prospect, add the detail to that card and anyone with access to it, can access it on phones and laptops.

We use capsule CRM and it’s great. Really simple and integrates into mailchimp which is a bonus.

I have used a lot of different CRMs.

Do not use Hubspot - it's overkill for what you need and extortionate. Plus they've (badly) built module upon module over the years, which has turned it into a Frankenstein where all the bits don't play nicely together in my experience.

For what you need, LACRM is probably the best fit - it is literally built for transitioning from spreadsheet to CRM without charging you for a load of crap you don't need: https://www.lessannoyingcrm.com/

For long term/scaling up, my favourite is Pipedrive, but again overkill for what you need right now.

As one of the other posters said, I would definitely avoid a self-build for now - you'll need to learn a whole new skill and then also spend time maintaining/tinkering... Better to pay a few quid a month and leave it with the pros.
