Can anyone suggest any websites for trade shows in China. Is there one big one, or are they all very product specific? Looking to visit to get some inspiration for importing new products but don’t want it to be a waste of time! Thanks.

Golfman,

Try googling China britain trade group, I used to visit China years ago with them on trade missions. Alternatively www.chinalink.org

All the best

I suggest you contact the chamber of commerce. They will likely have chinese contacts that can help recommend specific shows for you.

I don’t really know what I want to import until I sometimes see it (if you know what I mean). To be the first to spot a new gadget is what it’s all about…

And sod the chamber of commerce, they are a total waste of time as far as I am concerned.

Herein lies the dilemma - I know because this is something I'm looking at myself: Talking to the traditional channels, some of which are mentioned on this thread, and going to big exhibitions is exactly what like minded people (competitors, in effect) are likely to do.

In order to be one step ahead of the market, one needs to be more imaginative than the competition. Remember this, many (in fact, most) Chinese companies don't have a web-site. As such, internet research is of limited value. Also bear in mind that many Chinese companies can't understand the principle of "national exclusivity".
