My mother's book-keeper is excellent but based in Silverstone so probably a bit far from you, as I'm guessing you want someone based in Wycombe.

I do not know what system you are running your books on but it might be worth liaising with your Accountant to see if you can knock something off your Accounts/Audit Fee by implementing an improved system.
For instance we would consider reducing our own fee for someone who switched from doing their own books to using a professional bookkeeper on Sage.
In such an example whoever you use would have to be fully trained in Sage.
A final note of caution, anyone can call themselves a 'bookkeeper'.

Any leads or personal recommendations welcome. I use Quickbooks and am looking for someone to come in once a week/fortnight to keep on top of the accounts and do credit control.

You should be able to either share the files or backup and email them.
Tried that once before and there were logistical problems. I'd rather have someone on site periodically.
Damn straight. They work in the office where you can see them. Keep all the books in the office where you can refer to them anytime you like. We tried a remote-working arrangement too and it went very, very sour. Never again.
This is PRECISELY the type of thing I'm thinking of branching out and doing on my own, but I need to build a large customer base before I can leave my current job.
Basically, I want to be a mobile book-keeper going into small businesses that are too busy or don't know how to do their books and credit control themselves. I'm an audio and copy typist too, so if a small company has a large quantity of typing they need done, but don't want to employ someone on a permanent basis, they can call me!!
