I have an idea for a product to be installed in new homes and wonder if any of you would be willing to give some advice?

Should I have an engineering firm produce a prototype to show to the big housebuilders? Will I need to have anything done to protect my idea before doing this? Is licensing production a good option or should i look to have it made for my own (as yet non existent) company to sell?

sorry for all the questions, but it is potentially a good idea and reading all of your posts has made me want to get of my arse and do something rewarding!

thanks!

What sort of device is it?

I market direct to home builders and we may have a mutually beneficial overlap...

Hiya Gents,

many thanks for the replies- sadly no flushing involved Humpback! Plotloss, I'll PM you- and again, I appreciate you all taking the time to post something. I've been using the forums on Pistonheads for a long time but not really posting since i sold my Alfa last 18 months ago. Shoes don't have much pistonheads appeal!

cheers

One little tip for you. Don't talk to ANYONE about it unless they sign a non disclosure agreement first or you will be throwing away ANY legal rights regarding patent protection in the future. Just been down that road. Email for details if you wish.
