Pondering on purchase of a light vintage panel van at an auction but I am unsure as to wether the van would attract VAT on top of the winning bid price. So far as I can gather the vehicle has been used for private pleasure motoring only for many years. The van was registered in the 1920's. Many thanks for any replies.

I would assume that it is treated no different to any other commercial vehicle.

All depends on if the seller is vat registered or not, if they are then it will attract vat

As I said, no different to buying a normal second hand vehicle at auction.

Why should it matter anyway? If you are VAT registered, it is totally irrelevant if the vehicles is being sold with or without VAT.
