Developing an idea for mobile phones
Discussion
Just wondered if anyone out there has any experience of developing WAP sites for mobile phones? I've had an idea which is not available (at the moment anyway) and was curious to see if it was something that could be developed further. The only other question is how how would you go about protecting such an idea? I realise this is pretty vague, so general pointers welcome.

Have developed commercial WAP applications in the past.
Its a dead standard though.
SSR full fat HTML is the way.
And then you dont have to deal with all that deck arsing about.
Ok, this means nothing to me, all I know is when I press the button on my phone I get (a limited version of) internet. I thought of a site for mobile phone users, that isn't available at the moment, but that could have a potentially huge market. I have absolutely no experience in this field so if anyone has, what should I do next?

Basically when "mobile Internet" was first thought of, and the Nokia 7110 was all the rage, a new language WML was designed to be used on mobile phones, and it was XML based and used cards and all sorts of unnecessary guff which basically made it a pain to develop in. Then as phones got more powerful and screens got better and in colour etc. the movement went to using standard XHTML.
So basically, don't worry too much about "specialised language" anyone who's a web developer should be able to do it. Just ensure the site is developed to smoothly fit in a restricted width screen.
If you want any more advice just ask - be happy to help with your idea!
