Mileage Promise
Discussion
My girlfriend works for a large national company, and her designated place of work is their office in Sevenoaks. For 6 weeks she was working in another office, about 40 miles away. She was told so drive there, and she could claim the mileage at 40p/mile as it was more than 10 miles from her designated place of work. Now when she has come to claim expenses, one of the guys is saying that this was not the case, and she cannot claim anything. Is there anything in the law about the 10 miles from your designated work place, or anything like that?
For goodness sake, its just over seven hundred pounds - if a large company cant afford this, then they have bigger issues than her manager being a c*&k. Her T&Cs will assume that her designated base is free from expenses claims from home. If the company asked her to work 40 miles away for a limited period, then they should have expected to shell out. In her boots, I'd have been submitting claims at least monthly, though (he says, with at least a months worth of outstanding exes)

Mileage accrued to/from other company locations, customers, suppliers, etc etc, will be paid at £xyz (with different rates for those with co. cars or allowances). This mileage will be calculated by deducting her 'normal' commute from the distance covered.
You say "one of the guys" is saying otherwise...is this her boss?
