I purchased some equipment for my garage about three months ago from a company which was advertised on ebay.

Basically in that three months minor things have gone wrong with it, but being a mechanic i have quickly repaired it and off we go, but now it is knackered beyond repair.

I have tried to email them..No reply!
Numerous phone calls ..No answer!
Letters... no reply!

Anyway my question is as i paid with a credit card can i complain to the merchant company in order to try and get a reply from these guys.

Or maybe trading standards.
I am talking about a piece of kit costing £500, not a lot to money i know but it is starting to p*ss me off.

The advantage of paying by card is that, as I understand it (Im sure someone with a more concise understanding of how things work will be along in a minute) you have an 'insurance' of some kind.

In order to take credit cards, you need your terms and conditions approved by the merchant company, as your supplier would have done.

When buying with a credit card, your credit card company will check the suppliers terms and conditions and find out if they have either been breached (goods not fit for the purpose intended etc) and if they are not providing a replacement, repair, exchange or professional backup, then you can claim your money back.

Not sure how you go about doing this, whether you would need to return the goods first or not, but yes... credit cards are there to protect you. Id speak to them before trading standards, as they are the ones who will hopefully see to it that your money is returned.

Many thanks!
