I am doing a large trade show next week and rather than collecting the leads using paper and pencil I woudl like to use a pc.

I have no idea how to build even a simple form to collect contact details, product interest and general notes.

Does anyone have one I could use, or even build me a simple one that dumps the data into a text file?

Happy to have a little built by logo on the page.

PS no internet access, so it will have to run of an local web page, or even excel (although we use star office)

Shame if you could get internet access we could rig one up for you FREE. You must be able to get Internet access at the show. How about geminidigital.co.uk provide you with a simple website and hosting with a form page free of charge (form results sent directly to your email) for the duration of the show. contact us at www.geminidigital.co.uk

Trade off will be a simple logo with our details. PM me if you are interested.

I'll chat with my developers, see if they cant knock up a simple PHP script to do as you ask.
You will just need to have install webserver capable of running PHP on a laptop or pc.. which is easy enough.

I know it doesn't answer the original question but at most trade shows it is possible to hire a light pen and scan peoples badges as they come onto the stand or walk by. We have employed people in the past just to scan people as they go by the stand to build up a database.

The main thing to be aware of if you do this is that at the end of the show you will end up with a load of names and companies but not know why they visited or what the follow actions are so you need to take notes as well.

Personally I still like the old fashioned pen and lead form as you can make notes about the conversation and staple business cards etc to the notes.

Don't see why it has to be a web/browser form.

Wouldn't a normal database do the job just as well. I use open office (newer version of star office) and it has a database app which could do the job.

Thanks to all who replied.

Plotloss (I am one of his suppliers) knocked one up for me and it works a treat.

For the other ideas, both internet access and hire of those light pens is extortionate (spelling?)

I paid almost £300 for a telephone line at the NEC in April, for four days use!

Exhibitions are money fo old rope what with stand builds, floor space and hotels etc. Floor space allow for this small trade show is over £5K!!!!!!

Chris, look at Tmobile's unlimited data for £7 offer for future reference.

I could have hosted it then for you as well!
