fax machines and printers
Discussion
2 questions.
1) Does anybody use faxes any more? I haven't, not for ages. So is it worth getting one on a multifunction printer?
2) Whats a good printer/scanner to buy? One that won't produce crappy streaky rubbish prints like my current HP OJ7100? I am sick to the back teeth of buying printers that for one reason or another don't do the job.
I just want a printer that prints, reliably, in colour, for invoices and letters. Thats it. It shouldn't break after 12 months, and the cartridges shouldn't cost the GDP of Wales.

Something like this perhaps

My personal preference for printers is HP or Lexmark.

Thats just 30 minutes down the road from me, are they any good? It will only be used for invoices and letters, no fancy shiny photographs.

That looks ok as well.

The top one is a 4 pass printer, so it will do each colour in turn, effectively printing 4 imprints on one piece of paper to get the full colour spectrum. Obviously if your logo is 100% Cyan Yellow or Magenta then its a single pass plus the black.
I did look at that Dell one, resolution is 600dpi but it doesnt seem like a bad box.

Do they print ok on special paper? I have Iridescent paper for my invoices and letters, which is a bit expensive and fancy but I think it pays to present stuff nicely

Dunno about that.
Have been speaking to some printers recently about digital printing and some cant do it onto Conqueror CX22 which is my preferred choice of stock.
I've had a look at that iridescent stuff and you can laser in black onto it presumably but I really dont know enough to say one way or the other for sure.
