Hi Chaps,

I may soon have cause to set up a limited company as part of a possible business venture I might be involved with.

Anyone have any idea as to rough costs involved and the best way to do it?

Thanks in advance.

Do a Google under "UK limited company formation" and you will be spoiled for choice.

Very easy to do, as suggested, have a Google and take your pick!

The easy part is setting it up.

The difficult part is running it.

Difficult part is finding a good accountant.

Indeed yes

And in regards to setting one up, cheapest may not be best. You will need Memorandum & articles of association, forms appointing Director & Secretary etc.

We set up companies for a number of our clients and charge a fair amount more than £30, but that is because we complete all the forms they need, and all they need to do is sign what we send them.

It's just a possibility at the moment but i'll certainly be requiring the services of a recommended accountant. (Eric).

I suspect i'll be able to sort out all the LTD company bits and bobs myself to keep initial costs down (without having to remortgage the property!!).

That £30 is including M&A and all the forms appointing Director and Secretary.

If say a Ltd company was set up, to protect the name etc while it was being set up, but no trading occurred in the first year besides a director loan and couple of purchases, how much paperwork would be involved in filing the yearly statement?

You are still required to sumbit accounts to Companies House that are in compliance with the Companies Act.
