I have come up with a unique idea for an alternative form of luggage for holiday travel. However I have no idea about how to go about selling the idea as there will be no unique components (to patent) involved. I would prefer just to sell the idea to a luggage company than to try producing it myself only to be forced out when some big company copies the idea.

Any help/suggestions?

Thanks

James

sorry james, i don't have any experience of this sort of thing, but it sounds like you are going the right way with it if you can't protect it!

can you make a prototype and go with for a commercial presentation- only problem would be getting a watertight confidentiality agreement- and i don't know if they exist. Don't envy you chap to be honest.

Thanks for the reply. The idea is pretty simple but a prototype would be pretty difficult to build. I'll get in contact with a couple of the biggies like Samsonite and see what they say.

Hi jimmyd123,
AquilaEagle just PM'd me.

If I can help I will, have been involved in the Luggage Industry (Retail end) for 14 years, with my Wife.
Penny still runs the store. I'm not involved so much in the every day business as I have my own consultancy work to do.

Have met most of the big boys and I'd immediately say DON't talk to Samsonite, not just yet.

It really depends on what you've got and what it does, in other words why is it so different?

What or who are the market, is it niche is it main stream?

Please feel free to drop me a PM, I'm an S2000 UK Owners Member and post on the S2ki site regularly. Feel free to ask anyone who has met me for a character reference, I'm sure you're feeling a little protective about your idea, I don't blame you. Once you drop me a PM I'll email you and we can take it from there.
