Good and bad.
It also depends on the business you're in as some professions get greater call for Barter paid for services than others. It's very easy to build up huge amounts of Barter £s which you end up spending on spurious things that you wouldn't buy with cash.
The trick is to limit what you do on Barter or do half an half.
It's good for things like staff parties and client entertainment (Thurrock and Brentwood Kart Tracks both take Barter £s!!!) as it doesn't rip the backside out of cashflow

I had two clients who used it when I was at the accountants. Neither company had very good cash flow, but one was quite canny with it and it helped her business to keep ticking over as she used it for advertising and as she was in PR, the service suited her.
The other company was a small fire extinguisher place that used it to "sell" their business but then they used it for personal stuff like limousines to go to stay in hotels at the weekend, (which they didn't want to repay personally, so it went through as a business cost) and taking their staff out go-karting. When using the credit for entertainment, 1.) they couldn't claim back the VAT and 2.) They paid tax on these frivolities, so the business lost out and it made their cash flow even worse.
