we are just looking for someone to build a 3m long by 2.5m tall glass partition wall in our office. The quotes we are getting back seem really high to me ~£4k. anyone got any recommendations? Just looking for single glazed, nothing fancy

A single glazed wall of that size would have to be in toughned glass and a frame constructed to suit so that its sturdy and secure and there is no chance of it "falling" - hence it becomes expensive. To satisfy the H&S boys you would probably have to have a "notice" on it so nobody could by mistake walk into it.
If you just wanted the light a cheaper option may be glass blocks ?
Give Pilkington Glass a ring and they may be able to guide you further.

thanks for the reply. As a guide, we've just found someone else who reckons they can do it for £2500, so I think the first people were taking the piss (central london showroom etc can't be cheap!)

I used these guys to manufacture some bespoke windows for a show car; I understand they also do architectural stuff as well as partitions etc. Very friendly team of guys and a huge saving on the more well known companies...
