I am moving house at the end of the week and as per usual the solicitors have not been very quick with anything, they are useless!

Moving on Friday and i still do not know how much money they need directly from me and i have been informed today that because this has taken so long i am going to have to do an electronics (telegraphic) transfer to my solictors account to ensure the fund are there by Friday. Now from my understanding this costs me yet more money.

Firstly am i correct?

Secondly do i have to go to the bank to have this done or can i instruct over the phone?

Cheers
D

go to branch ask to do a CHAPS transfer which will cost £20 and if you do it before 12 (check as banks differ) the funds will get their same day

You do have to pay for CHAPS however I sent a CHAPS payment today(before the 2pm cut off at B@rcl@ys)and it did not leave my account today. The payment was to clear a loan account so I will have more interest to pay and will also have to get back onto the bank to find out why they didnt do it and raise merry hell madfuriousshootrage

doesn't get there same day though (unless they happen to use same bank at you) - CHAPS is the only way to (supposedly) guarantee it.

I do this too, pay all of my bills, transfer money the lot. However you can not do it for sums around £7,000. Plus i need the money there today.

Thanks for all the replies.

Thats sound like B@rcl@ys alright. Give them what for and make them pay the extra interest if it is there fault it did not go.

This apparently take upto 3 days with the Woolwich.furious To which i ask what the fcuk am i paying for then, it needs to be cleared in that account on Friday, sorry sir we cant guarentee it. We can give you cash and then pay that into the other account, sorry but due to law society regulations i cant pay cash to my solicitor.

What a load of shite. I am pissed off to the back teeth with banks, financial advisers, solicitors and anybody else involved with buying and selling a house because none of them can do their job properly!!!!!!

sorry rant over.

Could also use a bankers draft which clears with no deferment?
Go to your branch, get one for £15 or so and scuttle off to the solicitors bank?

Tried that to, the solicitors said they would not accept it.

Just a total joke
