the 63p rate finished in about 2001 I think. As already stated, rate is now 40p/25p regardless of engine size.

AFAIK, you can claim more but will be taxed on the excess.

Your employe can pay you at whatever rate they wish - but yes, this is the maximum you can receive tax free. These are also the recommended (by AA/RAC etc) rates and are what the majority of employers pay and what is seen to be reasonable.
