Just checked details of my exchange which is BT ADSL enabled. these are the details
You cannot receive 2Mbps ADSL
You may be able to receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512Kbps ADSL
You can receive 256Kbps ADSL

I am 2.2kms from the exchange. However Bulldog have the LLU ADSL and SDSL facility (Joust Easynet do not)
Now the question is (from a numptie) if BT can only deliver 1Mbps does that mean that is the maximum I could get from Bulldog or could I get c4Mbps?
I have to say that despite the responses to my earlier Bulldog question there does seem to be a lot of dissatisfaction out there

It depends. The speed ADSL can be delivered is dependant on distance, but can also be affected by the equipment at the exchange and the quality of the line.

I believe BT's checker just takes into account line length and assumes worst case for the rest; you may be able to do better than that on Bulldog but they won't be able to guaruntee it.

Watch the T&C with BT you are contracted for a year.
Companies like ZEN.co.uk use the BT Broadband wholesale service and only contract monthly. They have a much better support, not outsourced for India
