I race in some low level karting championships and like to film them and then upload the footage onto YouTube.

Up until recently I've been using Windows Movie Maker which although very clunky has done exactly what I need it to do. My laptop died the other day and the new one doesn't have Movie Maker. I can edit videos using the Photos app, but I don't like it. Last night I downloaded the Lightworks free video editor and couldn't get to grips with that either. It seemed very slow and complicated for the sake of being complicated.

Could anyone recommend some video editing software that's going to be half decent. I don't mind paying a bit of money for something, but please keep in mind it only gets used to edit 30 mins of karting footage once a month so I don't want to be spending an arm and leg on it!

Cheers,

Sammo

I use Camtasia on a regular basis which is very straightforward, but it's aimed mainly at screen capture videos (such as for training in software).

I haven't used it yet, but I know people who use movavi and are happy with it.
Also has a 7 day trial so couldn't harm to give it a go.

Edit: looks really really cheap though which would worry me biggrin.

I've used Openshot for a few quick and dirty videos, can be a bit fiddly in places but you may find it ok:

If you happen to have an iPad then iMovie works very well.

Adobe recently launch creative cloud express, not sure if you get video functions on the free plan.
