Connect a cassette deck/boom box to a pc using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Headphone out socket on the PC to the microphone in socket on the cassette deck.

I have a Microsoft Surface Pro PC (only USB-C out) and no tape deck, yet.

I was thinking a USB-C to RCA cable directly into the back of a cassette deck input. Would that work?
Not sure if you can get such a cable but if you can then yep

Otherwise you want either a usb hub with line level out or a usb sound card with line level out

And obviously a tape deck

This.

If you only have a cassette player in your car just use one of those tape things with the minijack cable.

Could be for an elderly relative? He could be making an old skool mix tape for someone as a romantic gesture....

You can buy a USB-C to 3.5mm female out cable for peanuts. From there you can connect to the tape player in the usual way

My Surface Pro has a headphone socket (3.5mm). You could connect that out but beware of hammering up the volume on the output too much.

It's on the opposite side to the USB-C port smile

I also have an Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, cost less than a tenner, plus an Aliexpress special that does audio-out over USB-C but does not support the MIC input ..... I'd buy that for a dollar!
