small footprint (without the optional java), quick and not prone to script nasties like Internet Explorer.

Opera does however stick rigidly to web standards which many web programmers and therefore websites do not which means you may experience some websites which do not display or function properly.

Apart from that it is an excellent browser, highly customisable and very quick. Been more than happy with it since starting to use it with ver2 back in the mid 90's.

I find it's much faster than Firefox, without the need to delve into settings. It does tend to be heavy on memory though. Ebay seems to kill it a lot for some reason. Other than that, it's great. I've been using the Ad version for ages, and with the adaptive text ads it's actually quite useful.

thanks for the hot tip, finally got a non advert version now

I installed Firefox before, didn't like it. Much slower than Opera (That was on my old 450mhz which I've just got rid of).

I just prefer the way it works, and the "Paste & Go" function is such a simple idea which I've not seen in any other browser.
