I have a collection of Kindle books bought from Amazon on my Mac. The problem is that now when I try to open one I get a message saying the app is no longer supported and suggesting I update the Kindle app, which is already fully up to date.
So far I can eventually get into the book after going in and out of Kindle a few times but it's trial and error with no real pattern to what works in subsequent attempts.

If I remove the Kindle app entirely and re install will that remove my existing library?

Or is the issue with Amazon and I should try another supplier?

Reinstalling the app won’t affect the library. It’s all held server-side and you’ll just need to redownload locally. The books will be there and they’re not device-specific.

Had a bit of a google as I was mildly curious. It appears that there's an 'old' Kindle for Mac app, that's been discontinued.
And a new kindle for mac app is available in the mac app store.
I'd try that - IF you can; it requires iOS 12.
Other people report the old app still launches but doesn't open more than a few books in the library; trying to open others brings up the error message about needing the newest version.

Thanks all. I'll try removing my current app and re installing.
