So I wanty to update the maps on my van, but it has a USB slot and Renault wants £175+ to download updates etc .....so I bought an SD card with updated maps but of course my media unit has a USB port so I bought an SD card reader.

Alls going too good isnt it.

Put said SD card into card reader, put USB into port on media unit. screen says nah, nothing on the USB? Puzzled thought, I know, I'll download files to my laptop then upload to an MT USB stick and that'll work wont it.

So put reader into laptop and cant access any files on the sd card???

tried google and it says use file exporer, did that , still wont open.....HELP....

Can you see the files on the SD card but not access them or is the SD card reading as blank?

Does the file system on the SD card and USB stick need to be a particular format? Often they can be quite weird with non PC things like TVs etc.

Please expand on this. Properties show what exactly? How many files, total used, total free etc.

It’s the same with the Porsche PCCM+ SD card. I can duplicate it, including at a low level, and it looks identical on a PC, but the copy is not recognised by the head unit. There is some sort of protection applied to prevent using duplicate cards

The chances are it's not formatted in a way Windows or your van can read (eg. Mac / Linux etc.)
I imagine the van media system would be looking for a FAT partition.

Surely this is a question for the place you bought the SD card from?

yes its formatted correct Fat32. As to properties...its whats on the file when you open it. Like all files/docs. As per another poster. I bet theres some code embedded in there that wont recognise it as a non Renault file

When you say "low level", you're doing a disk image copy? If so, I'd wonder if it is uniquely keyed to a specific vehicles serial number.

Yes disk image copy to the same model of Sandisk industrial SD card (not sure how it’s different from their consumer line, but costs twice as much…)

So where exactly did the SD card and maps you have come from?

It sounds like you've bought something non-legit with zero support from the vendor.

You've no idea whether the files are valid, or even if they exist at all.

I doubt this is something anyone can help you with except random stabs in the dark.
There's also a chance you've just been scammed.

Err thanks for the positive reply. The feedback from previous buyers says different but you crack on

I'm kind of pointing out the obvious -
Feedback is easily generated by bots and you ignored my suggestion of asking the vendor so i'm assuming there is zero support from them, ie. it's non-legit.
Correct me if I'm wrong?

Or alternatively 'crack on' yourself - not a word of thanks to random strangers who tried to help you get your counterfeit goods working. Nice......

I always find it a bit odd when people buy "cheap" copies of software etc from a random ebay account and are surprised it doesn't work. Its a risk you take trying to save by using something that potentially is not legit.

Head units are notoriously fussy about map updates etc, do the risk is even higher.

Not sure which seller the op bought from, but the ones I saw were mostly low feedback.

There's one seller from the EU that's a bit more expensive but has over a 1k feedback.

I'd hazard a guess that the low feedback one are chancers.
