Happened across one of these in curry’s today wondering if it’s a better option than an IPad Pro for what I’d want it for.

Generally use the current iPad Pro mostly for web browsing, always been on apple but there not really anything on my iPad that ties it to my iPhone these days.

Would be handy to have something with a keyboard.

Personally use would be limited mostly to web browsing and a few browsing apps like Rightmove, social media, Airbnb, etc.

Work use with a keyboard that makes it easier to navigate QuickBooks, payroll (cloud based software), and other associated cloud based book keeping pages. It would only be used fleetingly for work as I prefer to use a fix 3 screen set up but it’d be handy if I could just flip it out when sat on sofa on a train etc and quickly process a short task like payroll.

That’s what I’m coming up with, just wondering if it’ll have the processing power to deal with those cloud based softwares? And anything else I should be looking for?

Many thanks

I really dislike the Surface Pro design, especially the keyboard. I do get the appeal of a somewhat more conventional 2 in 1.

I missed the OP already has an iPad Pro - I that case, just get a keyboard! iPad OS 26, coming in the next few weeks, also promises to unlock a lot of additional functionality as well, making iPad Pro more laptop like.

Forgot to mention the current pro was bought second hand from fb marketplace.

It’s got a cracked screen and a less than perfect battery life.

So I’d be looking at a new iPad Pro with keyboard etc vs a Chromebook 2 in 1

I'm running iPad OS 26 beta on my Pro, through the developer programme. It really is a huge improvement in the multi-tasking UI, and seems very stable

It's certainly my preferred mobile platform, although I usually cart around my MacBook Air as well, for development work

Wife has a Chromebook 2 in 1 type device, it’s a Lenovo. She seems happy enough with it but I find it a bit awkward to use for anything more than basic web browsing which a tablet would do fine alone.

Maybe I’m old fashioned but I still like a proper laptop for anything more than browsing.

I'm primarily web browsing so the tablet aspect of that would suit. Laptop functionality as a work emergency just need to to not lag or be too slow.

I much prefer to use multiple screens in work. Can't fathom people i see operating off one small laptop screen for primary working

I've been doing the same but found the opposite, it's not really moved things on for my use case. Office is still bloody awful and mobile Chrome just isn't as easy as an Apple laptop. Try as I have, I still only use it for watching TV and some browsing.

I have a Surface Pro 7 which I use all day, every day. It's a brilliant machine, the only drawback being battery life of around 2-3 hours.
Snapdragon ones will have better battery life.

It does everything, presently connected via USB-C/HDMI cable to a 27" screen (2640x1440 resolution).

Having gone through the whole iPad Pro yes/no, I realised the iPad is limited. Or rather iPadOS is limited. My mobile solution is an iPad with a keyboard (Air M1) and my mobile compute solution is a MBA (also M1). Because battery life.

Windows is rather gumpf at touch-first. Beware of that.....I actually don't mind the Surface Pro keyboard but do use a Logitec K780 as my daily driver.

I suppose having a load of devices probably does not help!!
