Replacement Smartphone needed not too big
Discussion
I am not a phone expert and I don't want to spend more than £150 . I use calls and WhatsApp. Take very few pictures , google things in the pub to settle arguments and will look in my Bank from time to time on the mobile . I am not a heavy user .
My current phone is a Pixel 4a used from Backmarket about 4 years ago . Its absolutely fine but is now not holding a charge . Battery depletes over just a few hours or so . It was fab when I got it .
My biggest issue is I want it in my pocket comfortably . All phones now seem like tablets to me .
The 4a is 144mm tall and that big enough.
May I ask for suggestions please what to buy and where from . No contract needed I just us my Tesco sim card.
Thanks

Depends if you want new or refurb, here's an idea https://www.giffgaff.com/mobile-phones/refurbished...

Thank you ,I did look here but you cant actually buy outright , even though it says you can . You have to buy a minimum £10 package .Thanks for the suggestion though.
Google was running a free battery replacement scheme for the Pixel 4a earlier this year because of charging / capacity issues.
Maybe your phone wasn't eligible, and the scheme could've already closed, but it might be worth checking: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/workflow/156...

As above see if yours is eligible for the battery replacement.
As you have a Pixel, if you want to replace it just get a newer Pixel. I'd personally spend a little more to get a Pixel that is going to get a few years of OS and security updates, especially as you mention you do use banking apps.

For a new phone - I bought at Motorola Edge Neo 50 for £199 direct from Motorola - 5 years of upgrades. 6.4" - which was bigger than my Asus Zenfone 8 (5.9"), but it is fine size wise. Would prefer smaller, but for the price I thought it was a bargin.
Likewise. It's a great phone, great value, and small - compared to most other phones! I don't even case mine, cliffords said:

With GiffGaff it's almost a Pay as you go type deal so you can cancel at any time, even if you took the £10 package you can just cancel it straight away, effectively it just adds £10 to the cost to purchase if you look at it that way, just don't choose the 18 month contractThanks for the suggestion though.
I use a Samsung Galaxy XCover 5. It’s small, an old design but still new enough to be updated, and got a battery that will start my car. I have it because I also hate massive phones, and working in construction I need a rugged water resistant phone. They started off in price well above your budget but as they become more ancient, in phone terms, they are getting steadily cheaper. I paid about £200 for my current one last year. I bet you can get them for under that now.

They are well under £100 now - some can be found for under £50. Its end of life though really (hence the cheap price)Just to complete the thread , and thank you to those who contributed .
I bought a Motorola Edge Neo 50 direct from Motorola.
I thought it was a bit big when it arrived but a few days in and it seems normal size again. Its a great phone does everything I want with my modest needs and a few years of updates and a big battery .
Wife wants to order one now
Edited to add I paid £225 last week , Ordered today for wife again direct with Motorola and it was £149 ! colour dependant .
Fantastic value .

I'm tempted to get another one at £149 for my daughter in the USA who keeps trashing her Pixel

Just noticed the Edge 60 Neo is coming this month GSM reckons 400 EUR. Looks to be a very similar spec, but a 5200 mAh battery - which is a large increase on the 50 - and and 12Gb RAM.
There's only the Latte left at £149 on the Motorola site.
