I was interested in getting some binoculars or similar, but I became aware of lenses that you can fit to your phone camera, anybody have any experience?

You won’t win awards with it - if you can keep the phone stable (and assuming it doesn’t confuse the image stabilisation) then it might work. The challenge is any shake is massively magnified. Google for images taken with it.

The original idea was just for sight seeing from a distance.
