I’ve been on Facebook for about 20 years. I have/had c180 friends and admin 2 large groups, 11,000 members.

Today I tried to log in and found that my account had been deactivated, not by me. I haven’t received any emails explaining why or any notifications. I really cannot understand why this would have happened, don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.

Apparently I can appeal by completing a form but I cannot find the form after signing in.

I also have an instagram account so paid for Meta verification to get access to the chat line but that’s not working. I just get ‘something’s wrong please try later’.

Any ideas? I have lots of photos and memories on Facebook which I’d hate to lose.

You could just start a new profile with the backups you have of course been taking regularly...?

(sorry!)

But I do wish you luck finding someone to actually talk to in a giant faceless megacorp! I'm sure someone in there will be useful but actually getting hold of anyone will be a likely impossible challenge, I fear.

AI has prob decided one of your photos is kiddie material or something. It is probably a picture of a sofa or something innocent though

Edited to add it’s why I would never invest much time / effort / meaning eg running a group. IMO it’s pointless as you have no control and no recourse if the worst should happen.

You've posted some hurty words or thoughts that don't align with The Narrative "Community Standards". It happens all the time and the account is gone for good. Welcome to Big Brother.

I had my account locked due to someone hacking my instagram account. Thing is, I don't have an insta account. Never have. I could see the random insta account linked to my FB account, and I unlinked it. Still, I was locked out. I appealed, was ignored conpletely

Do not store ANYTHING you can't lose on FB.

I too manage a couple of groups on FB so just created a new account with a different name and use it soley for admin, and nothing else, No friends, no photos. Nothing.

Our bike club has switched from a forum to FB and I've warned them that they have all their eggs in a very fragile basket, but no one has listened.

For every one anecdotal story you'll here about someone having an appeal acted on, you will google 1000s of cases of people getting absolutely nowhere.

I had 20+ years of digital memories locked after Microsoft decided that they didn’t like what I had uploaded to OneDrive.

The lesson I learned was the big faceless corps like Microsoft/Meta/Google etc give you no robust appeals system and once they lock your account then that’s usually the end of it, the appeals computer says no.

Hope you manage to get the account reinstated.

Someone, somehow hacked into my faceache market place account and put up an ad with a pay by click advert paid by my PayPal...I only noticed when I checked my bank account when I had small payments going to faceache via PayPal. I did some digging, found the advertiser etc, reported it all to PayPal and faceache. PayPal reimbursed me str8 away. Faceache did nothing. I complained directly....well as much as u can. Then they banned ME from marketplace. Have still done nothing..have no idea if they repaid PayPal.. assholes.

all of this can be traced back to guessable passwords.

I had a hard password on Facebook. My last post was this photo with a comment about it being what IT security was back in the day.

Never trust any digital content to a single location ever.

Nothing has changed, we're still really just saving to cassette tapes and hoping for best out there.

I always assume that anything I have digitally saved anywhere, will at some point be lost.

I'll be staggered if you have any help from Facebook, unless you absolutely need it in your life, take this opportunity to walk away from it!

IME, they don't like wiping anything (I have tried to delete profiles before and it was impossible).

If you were in breach of community standards you would had warnings before being deleted in that way.

Nope, absolutely nothing. That’s what I find odd, I didn’t even get notified that my account was being disabled. It just went.

I’m back. I opened a support chat on Instagram (that account was never closed) and now everything’s back. No explanation as to why it happened though.

As frustrating and mystifying as the no explanation is, at least you have it back.

I have sent countless messages to faceache asking why I am banned from marketplace. Of course zero response.

I've not been active on my personal profile for a long time now, but it exists because I need it to maintain a business profile.

Despite not posting on my personal account for several years, I copped a suspension (which also meant I couldn't do anything on my biz page) for an image which I posted 12 years ago. It was deemed to have violated Facebook's revised Community Standards.

I was allowed to appeal the decision and as much as I couldn't care less (the suspension was 14 days) I wanted to make the point that the image in question was okay at the time of posting. What also made it worse was that I shared it from a friend's profile and his was (and is) still there.

The appeal was turned down.

Now I have my account back I can view my status. Last August I had a post removed (see below) because it was classed as spam. Someone had claimed to have been nicked for 1-2 mph over a speed limit. I replied as below, how can that be spam?
