Creating custom key shortcuts to open files?
Discussion
When I log into my work laptop (Windows 10) I always have to open the same 3 Word Documents that I leave open all day for reference.
Is it possible to create shortcuts so that after logging on I can press certain keys to auto open those specified documents, to save gong into my Documents folder and finding/selecting the documents?

Shortcut on the desktop and then include the shortcuts in the Startup Folder - is that a thing in Win10?Is it possible to create shortcuts so that after logging on I can press certain keys to auto open those specified documents, to save gong into my Documents folder and finding/selecting the documents?

<WIN+R> to get the run command prompt
Then enter: shell:startup
Put your links in there and they'll open at login

You could just create a shortcut to each file on the desktop ? (i.e. so there's an icon on your desktop screen)
Yes I could, but if I forget to do it at log in I would then need to minimise whatever I have open to get to the desktop to double click them.bigpriest said:

Right, so a shortcut is needed not he desktop fr it to work, thanks. I recall being able to press F1, F2 & F3 to open the Word documents a few years ago, before we got nw computers. Though I probably had to hold down Ctrl + Alt too?Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
