Tems portable monitors
Discussion
Most portable monitors take their power from the USB-C connection to the computer.
I have two, although not as large res as the Tems ones and both just need a USB-C cable.
This one is 2.5k and I use it with just the one cable - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FJ1XMX24?th=1

I was really just highlighting the fact you don't need separate power for the screen. The Azorpa one is lower res than you are looking for, although I am happy with it.
I double checked, and the Tern screens are the same and they even have an FAQ indicating that they will get their power from the computer if just using USB-C but can do 40W of passthrough power, which would only need one cable going to the computer if it was sufficient for it.
They also include a 30W power brick if you use the HDMI port, however there are HDMI to USB-C cables that have a separate USB-A connection for power delivery that do work with portable monitors - I use one for my ROG Ally with a dock to get an external screen, no extra power needed (this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CM32LFCH) and it works on both my Azorpa and older HP portable screen (to be clear, HDMI on the computer and you plug in to the USB-C on the screen).

Thanks for that. My ideal set up would be to plug the Macbook into the TERN for a couple of hours at a time - otherwise it s on the MagSafe in my home office. So 40W would keep it topped up nicely.Edited by fido on Friday 13th March 23:23
Noting it’s for a Mac, Have you tried Sidecar with an iPad?
Quite a handy method; In my experience it has always performed reasonably well - It’s a slightly opaque protocol in the usual apple sense, in that whilst it functions wirelessly, there seems to be some notion that it can function via a wired connection as well.
For me It’s a slightly better option, as rather than carrying around a ‘dumb’ display, it’s a fully functional companion device as well as a display that has its own battery.
If you have a look at CEX, There’s a few options for earlier M1 / M2 iPad Pro’s at 11" & 13” Which may suit, and come out at a similar budget.
There are aftermarket iPad stands available, but I just use mine with an Apple Magic Keyboard (or previously, a cheap Amazon Keyboard case)
Depending on what you’re working on, it is handy - For document reviews and reading, Airdrop it / open up on the iPad and have a natural read, do any annotations with the pen etc.
If you’re working from home a majority of the time, It can be paired alongside external monitors without impacting your total display count as well - E.g. I have 2x 4K Displays, a 2K Display via DisplayLink, and can still Sidecar the iPad for display overload.
