I've got a pair of sony wf-1000xm4, plus a pair of Bose QC 2 buds.

BOTH have dead batteries in the left bud. Pretty annoying for what were both big spends at the time.

Does anyone have experience of cheaper ANC buds of a "similar" quality - good ANC and good bass.

I'm not ploughing more £100's into expensive buds as seemingly the batteries simply don't last.

Had two pairs, one Sep 23 to Nov 25, a channel started to become distorted, second from Nov 25 on.

I think the first was £70 so about £0.60 a week over 2 and a bit years, the new pair were £50 odd quid, well worth it.

I use these. Fit really well and have excellent sound quality and ANC. And they look cool as well. I much prefer them to my Bose Quiet Comfort 2 buds. Can find them considerably cheaper from other sellers/ebay etc. Well recommended.

I’ve got some Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro ones. Cracking for the money from Amazon. Soundcore is a spin off from Anker I think.

I have a pair of these as well, they're cracking for the price. They are my backup pair or a pair that I wouldn't mind wearing where there was the chance I could lose them. rather than lose my pair of Technics.

Cheers. Lots of deals right now on Libertys. £49 Liberty 5 ANC, £59 Liberty 5 ANC, £89 Liberty 4 Pro. Was hovering over the 4 Pros then reminded myself the goal is NOT to spend money Was drawn in by the case OLED display, but just clicked on the 4 ANCs. They have the best ANC apparently which is key as I wear them whilst working on workshop machinery.

Got replacement batteries on order for my Sony's and my Bose's. Will see how that goes - fiddly repairs but I'm fairly handy at that. Replaced the OLED on a flip phone before.

The expensive buds (Bose, SOny etc) NEED replacement battery options. They just don't last more than a few years, and for nearly £300 that's unnaceptable to me. Always the left ear too! (google it). Bose's response was (6 months out of 2 year warranty) "out of warranty, have a pair of QCs for £190". I said, "after this experience, why whould I possibly consider buying bose again?". I might have a pop at small claims against them. £289 puts them in the premium bracket, which helps a lot in court.

We've got a few sets of EarFun buds around the family, and they seem to work well enough.

I use them for dog walking with podcasts, listening to music on a static bike, and when a passenger in a car. (Never when driving, obvs.)

Pop them on your list, and do the historical price check thing on Amazon to make sure you're getting them on one of their very regular deals...

Received mine today.

Software - excellent
Buds - excellent
Sound quality - excellent
ANC - not a patch on teh Bose QC2s, but, not bad

For £49 I'm very pleased. Thanks

Another recommendation for EarFun. I have Free Pro 2's and Free Pro 3's. Prefer them to both Sony C710N's and Galaxy Buds FE I've had in the past.

Free Pro 3's are an absolute bargain at £28 on the EarFun website. I paid over £60 for mine just over a month ago furious

ETA; just bought a spare pair, couldn't resist at that price biggrin

Before binning the Bose, get onto their customer service again, worth a try. I had the left one die, not sure if it was the battery or something else but I always used the right one a lot more so may be related. I used the Bose in bed.

To be immense surprise, they sent me a pre-paid box to send them both back and replaced them within a week with the newer Ultras. Suppose it depends how long you've had them but I don't recall having to send any proof of purchase back to them.

In terms of earbuds, AirPods Pro are great and I've never had a problem with them, that being said I do probably replace them every couple of years with the newer model. If you use them every day during work and then the price shouldn't be a reason not to buy something better.

The fact I paid for the top end product and it hasn't lasted more than 7 months beyond its warranty is the exact reason not to buy "something better". Hence my reasearch into something better value. And by value I do not mean £289 for a product that dies within 3 years.

(I don't use them daily for work - perhaps once a week when I'm drilling/grinding for an hour or two, plus every day when on holiday.

Cheers. I called them. They offered me QC UIltra gen 2's for £180 which I said no to as I'd already shelled out £289 (I think I actually paid £189). They then dropped this to £82 so I'm going for that and my Mrs can have my Libertys. I'm also going to try battery swaps on both my broken Bose and my broken Sony.

That's a result! The Ultras are really good, I think you'll be pleased.
