ARC Audio Dropping Out?

I have an old JVC LCD tv in my office. It's been happily running from my Xbox for a number of years with a basic Creative Stage soundbar. Recently I moved the Xbox to save space and went to an Amazon Firestick instead. Worked fine for a few weeks, but now I can't get the soundbar to pick up the audio from the TV.

Have done a restart on the FireStick and swapped it with another one from a different room, replaced the HDMI cables but the same issue still persists. Unplugging all the HDMI cables and putting them back in resolves the issue until the next time I switch the TV off and then no audio.

Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar?

I use a Roku streambar connected via HDMI ARC and I regularly get this, a reboot & disconnect/reconnect of the cables cures it for a bit but it always comes back. I just assumed it was an ARC "feature"!

It's bizarre because I've had this setup for several years without issue.

Resolved for now by digging out a toslink optical cable and using that instead. That does mean I've lost the ability to change the volume with the tv remote though.

not sure how true it is, but ive read that arc only works with certain hdmi cables. might be worth a google
