New Samsung watch
Discussion
Hi all
Originally had Samsung watch 4 classic (I like Samsung
)
Was given a free samsung watch FE to replace it but didn't really get on with it
Looking around for a new watch, came across a company selling new international versions of the Samsung watch ultra at a fraction of uk prices (UK version £600, i paid £250 plus warranty £12)
After reading various sites about potential problems I still decided to take a chance and ordered one
Turned up quickly, still boxed new, on setting it up my Samsung s25 ultra phone took control and set the watch up completely, everything works great, no complains at all, can use the watch for payments etc
Not tried the esim bit as I don't think I will need it
Less than half price for exactly the same thing!
Would Deffo recommend

Had an original Samsung Watch with esim.
Ditched it when the esim deal expired. Battery life was woeful and only ever used the call function once (to try it!). Also limited in terms of sensors for what I wanted.
Not sure things have moved on that much looking quickly at the specs.
Ended up going the Garmin route. Even with all sensors going I get 10 days out of it. Nearer 18 days if I turn off things like PulseOX. No way I'm faffing about recharging a watch every 2 days. Not as smart (as in attire) looking, but I have other watches for that.

Still rocking the Galaxy Watch 4, it used to last two days with the screen only waking when lifted but a few years on I'm charging it nightly.
With the new UI update I find the maps function useful in London as it saves getting the phone out and risk getting snatched, props to Samsung for still fully supporting the watch.
The Galaxy Watch 9 is out next month so might be worth seeing if five generations of incremental updates produces a more useful watch.

I've stopped wearing my watch 4 (gone back to traditional watches) - but I do use it if I know I'm going to be navigating somewhere on foot. It works very well, and is definitely much better than holding a phone up all the time. With the new UI update I find the maps function useful in London as it saves getting the phone out and risk getting snatched, props to Samsung for still fully supporting the watch.

I like the 6 classic, and that seems to be around the £200 mark now which is tempting but mine does what it needs to for now - especially with occasional use.
