Have a 300Sl r107 which has a dead battery after sitting for a few months...
Ive had it on the trickle charger for a few weeks but it wint take charge. Reluctant to jump start it as afraid of damaging electrics!
Potentially a drain in the system which is stopping trickle gainig charge?
Should i remove battery and charge outside car?
Safe way to attach jump leads?

I have the identical car, 1988.

How old is that battery & what alarm has it got?

Personally if the batteries drained down completely a few times and is much older than five plus years I'd buy a new one. Bosch do ones with 5 year warranties.

Jump start it, the car barely has any electrics. If your battery is not taking a charge, it's probably done. They are usually only good for 5 years.

If the battery is that old, you can remove it and take it back where you bought it. They should warranty it and give you a new one. If you're going to leave it sitting. It's best to put a trickle charger on it or disconnect it when you're not using the car.
