2003 R230 350SL SUSPENSION KNOCK

Can anyone give some pointers on where to look for a knock from somewhere underside? I've had it on a lift and there's no evidence of play anywhere. The front A/R bar drop links have some movement but, with a ball joint at the top, this must be intentional. Like to get it sorted before I cocoon it for the winter. Thanks.

Assuming you are on standard springs and not ABC have you checked the top shock absorber mounts/bushes. Wear in these can cause knocking.

Ball joints at the bottom of (if you have the awful ABC) front shocks.
