Hi all

I have just picked up a 2020 C43 and I'd like to see exactly what it has got fitted to it, because according to the brochure I have, a towbar is not available, but this has a factory fit, retractable towbar fitted.. I have tried some of the VIN decoders and it doesn't come up.

Has anyone used one that works for a more modern car?

TIA

Hi, I've never managed to find a Merc one that works but the dealers have been helpful, always managed to get a build sheet

I've no idea about the decoder but are you sure that the towbar was factory (or dealer)-fitted? Many AMGs were not homologated for towing but I have read about owners having them fitted, including some that didn't require cutting the bumper.

Thank you. What would I need to ask for in the dealer, a build sheet? Should I ask parts or service?

Yep. It is retractable, and the button to release the hitch is in the boot lid. I don t even know it was there when I bought it. If it is not factory fitted someone has spent a *lot* of money retrofitting the factory towbar.

I normally ask for Service and hope to get someone helpful. Try another dealer if your local one is crap

Sorted folks.

It was indeed built with a tow bar, and 18” wheels instead of 19”.

Good result; when you mentioned the button in the boot lid it did sound almost certain to be factory-fit.

For anyone who may be interested to get thier VIN decoded go to LastVIN.com.

I have used it numerous times on my different Mercedes, prints out like a build sheet.

It worked well for my 2014 CLS, and a 2019 car a friend was viewing.

I presumed the OP would have tried it though.
