I know it makes no sense financially but I've bought a Cosworth engine complete with dogleg box and I intend to drop it into my 1.8 manual 190E.

Has anyone here done this before?

What sort of changes will i need to make to the rear subframe/diff/driveshafts etc.
(obviously the brakes will need beefing up etc.)

Will the engine drop in fairly easily?

I'm drawing up the parts list at the moment.

Any hacks, ideas greatly appreciated.

thanks

A parts list seems like a good start, comparing the part numbers of 1.8 components to cosworth parts. Although I found looking through the part list that many parts for my 190 were commonised with W124 parts, so the original may be adequate.

Interesting.

I think i may need to beef up the driveshafts, diff and rear subframe but I don't know for sure.

The 2.3 Cosworth engine is only c.180bhp so it shouldn't tear the car apart.

I'll keep digging
