CL600 C140 Questions

Hi all,

I'm in Dubai, and considering buying a CL600 I've come across, but have a couple of questions.

The car's from Japan, and has what I presume is the premium centre console, with the TV screen giving all the info on heating, radio etc. As it's a Jap car, this is all in Japanese. Is it possible to reflash the software with an English version?

Also, the drivers door glass is broken (left hand side as LHD car). It's double glazed. Can this kind of thing be sourced from the motor factors, or do I have to go to Mercedes for it (and hence pay Merc list prices)?

The W140 car never came from the factory with a TV screen. And the double glazing will be more than double expensive from Merc dealers only: after all, how often do you think the factor gets a call for a C140 double-glazed door window?

Nope - this screen is definitely factory fit. It's integrated into the wooden dash surround and is definitely OEM. Integrated into it is the heater info, CD/Radio info (controlled via the separate OEM controls below), and a few other things. It also has a phone keypad next to it, so I presume it's caller ID etc too.

And yes, I'm aware no one else will manufacture the glass, but with a lot of OEM parts, you can buy them more cheaply from motor factors. I am also interested if anyone knew what country it's cheaper to buy it in. In the UK it's £650 inc VAT.
