Key card Problem

The key card has been lost for my S320 and the dealer says that they canot supply a replacement until the car has been into the dealer and has a key chanel or something freed up via a link with the factory can someone explain this please

what this means is....
the car only has a certain amount of slot's in the memory to hold keys.
lets say 8. when you buy a car you should get 3 keys supplied with it.
this would leave 5 spaces left.
if you loose a key and order another then another space gets used. etc etc.....
we can not order a new key and use a space that has a key already asigned to it.
once all spaces are used the you need a new control unit. then you start all over again.
now most dealers should only order a key once they check you car has enough spaces for a new key to be programmed.

Thanks for the info
The dealer says he can open more slots but may take a few hours so its not a while I waite job!
Has made no mention of any new units only a cost of about £90!
Is it worth it for the key less system?
