Anyone offer any advice?

99 plate - car not been used for a few years. Battery is ok - does turn over and and crank - has fuel and spark, occasionally starts a rough idle, could hear a vacuum type of sound and a misfire. Now will start and die straight away.

Any ideas where to start? its go the old circular diagnostics not an obd.

Worth changing the plugs first?

Does it have fresh fuel, and have you checked/replaced the fuel filter ?

Old gas breaks down. Drain the tank first and run cleaner through the fuel injection system. Old fuel can also gum up fuel systems and cause injectors to stick. Clean out MAF

If it starts, it's likely not spark but the plugs could be worn out. In which case, the car will run terribly. Replace with the OE plugs and see what happens? If it's an M112, you might need a special wrench to pull the plug wires off.

As far as the round 48 pin plug, I believe that Icaroft offers an adapter and can read R129. I say R129 specifically because some scan tools offer the plug but will not have the software for an R129. You can also buy an SDS C3 or C4 which is guaranteed to read codes.

It's also worth mention that the crank position sense is notorious valid point on the m112 engine. It should throw a code
