S204 2011 What coil springs do I need?
Discussion
I’m wondering if anyone on here can help.
I’ve a 2012 C class estate C200CDI S204, it’s an SE model on 16” wheels.
Earlier this year I changed the front coil springs and went with what the Bilstein fitment showed - FE1-H182 part 37-17827 (I think 11.2mm wire o)
These seemed a much thinner wire than the (broken) ones I took off, but I figured they must be ok as they were the listed part.
You can see in these two pics the difference between the old and new….
Old…

New…

As you can see the coils are a thinner gauge.
Unfortunately the car now sits very low at the front, practically on the bump stops and it’s nothing like as nice a ride.
Mercedes won’t give me a part number from the vin, presumably so that I can’t just get aftermarket, but tge price they quote is £££s which is daft as this is a £900 shed.
Using the VIN checker at www.cats.ru shows a load of springs for this car - including the thin, soft ones that I now have.
Can anyone on here shed some light on the correct springs to buy to get my ride height and quality back.
My VIN is WDD2042012F920716

They have listings that show manufacturer part number and aftermarket equivalents.
I’ve used it to cross check part numbers for bits from other sites.
I’ve not bought from them but a colleague has and he reckons they are good (he gets stuff shipped to Australia and has never had any issues).

Glad you got it sorted - and just to confirm that s what I made it too £80.50 plus vat from Mercedes
Cheers, Steve!I actually had a choice of Lesjofors, Eibach or Sachs.
I went with the cheapest (Lesjofors) at only £25 each from Autodoc, I only paid £900 for the car so try to keep my costs down - it’s not like it does big miles nowadays.
That’s a pic with the suspension at the correct height - rides great on our awful roads. On the incorrect springs it’s currently using its right down with almost no travel.

Have you changed them before ? We have a proper spring compressor and we struggle with some of the mercs as they are just way too long
I’ve done loads however last time on these I had to get them changed at a garage as they’re too short. Got a pro set (from Renault) being loaned. Forums | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
