11 months old RUSTY Mercedes wheels (spoiler, it s normal!)
Discussion
So I bought a used CLA 3 weeks ago from a main dealer. I thought the rusty brakes would rub off but oh no! This is on the brake part of the hub and because of the rather lovely alloy wheels the RUST shines through and I see it every day now. The Mercedes dealer says “it happens” - “you could hammerite and/or paint them” - the g wagon in the showroom is the same BTW! Like that was meant to help.
So why manufacture a part that is known to rust? Mercedes head office says it’s not a warranty issue and Mercedes used car 165 point check does not include RUST on brake parts so there is no recourse to the dealer.
Any ideas to help me make the car look good and not a 1 year old RUSTY Mercedes?

So do you think a better replacement - brembo etc - not rust and look so awful?
A lot of places will just spray them with some high temp paint to tidy them up - it’s a very easy job. The Brembos you buy from Eurocarparts are cheap and nasty these days and made in China. If it's any help, I've been using Mtec brake discs for a few years now, which you can buy with a coating on. So far, it's always lasted the lifetime of the discs.

I had the exactly the same problem with my CLS too, i spoke too a detailer friend of my at the time who recomended this product to me:

Easy enough to use, wheel off, quick lick over and they look good as new. I Just covered the caliper with a bag and any overspray on the disc face itself just rubs away once the wheel rotates once its dry.
