I’ve never owned a Mercedes but I’m after a wagon as my next car. I’m interested in views on the C300d circa 2018-19 as these are cars in my budget.

I’m interested in this model as I do circa 20,000 miles a year including regular trips from Leicestershire to South Lanarkshire, I want the effortless extra torque the 300 gives over the 220, otherwise I don’t know a huge amount about them.

Any tips or suggestions welcome.

Great engine. That OM654 is smooth and torquey. 50mpg easy on your runs. Check for oil leaks around the front timing cover and make sure the AdBlue tank isn’t crystallising. Gearbox service every 50k not 75k. Rear air suspension if you get estate - listen for compressor noise on startup. Otherwise solid.

not all estates are on air....mines a FL early 19 AMG line with the Sport suspension and is very low compared to the Superb ive come from
had mine 6 weeks or so, just about used to it now, first rear wheel drive for a long time and so easy to light the rear up!
im gettting close to 50 just running about, 60 is possible on long runs
spec can be a bit hit and miss especially with AA and CarPlay...there but not always activated and the Merc Nav is so dated.

AA and CarPlay can be added by a external add in for approx £250
