Advice about buyuing an Alfa
Discussion
Hi
I was just looking for a bit of advice on buying my first second hand alfa, i have around a 5K budget but am unsure of what i should be expecting to pay, ive been looking at a 2004 ALFA ROMEO 147 1.9 JTD 16v Multijet Lusso 5dr Diesel Hatchback with 54000 miles (£5200) or a 2003 ALFA ROMEO 156 2.4 JTD 20v Multijet Veloce 4dr 54000 miles (£4700).
Any advice would be greatly recieved.
Cheers

They're both rather overpriced, the 147 in particular.
The 16V/20V JTD cars have several more things that go wrong with them compared to the 10V. Pop over to alfaowner.com for the full low-down: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-147-156-and-gt...
Thread on a common and expensive failure on the 16/20V:

...so if you do buy either of them make sure the cam belt AND water pump have been replaced - they are well overdue (in terms of age if not mileage) if not already done.
