Odometer changed 156
Discussion
Not specifically an Alfa post but I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've just bought a 156 from a trader. It was advertised as having 55000 mile on the clock, which it did. I've been checking out the car and found a receipt for changing the odometre at 17,000 miles so it's actually done 72,000. There is also a mention of it in the service book. I'm going to speak to the trader and possibly trading standards. Does anyone know what my rights are.

Depending on where the odometer was changed it may have had the mileage corrected to show the right mileage...unlikely, but you never know!
I recently read that the ECU memory holds the real mileage but I guess that might mean a visit to the local Alfa dealer to be hooked up.
Ignoring all th above and assuming the dealer sold the car knowing the fault, you have a claim and they could very well be done for the offence. But I suspect they'll plead ignorance and claim not to have seen the invoice (although it is his responsibility to note this). Either way you should easily get a refund...the rest depends how much you want to push.
