Was wondering if you have experienced a oil pump problem ? i did and sorted it eventualy after nearly costing me another re-build

The old 8v engine are virtually bulletproof. I've never had any problems but the likes of EB Spares do stock them though- perhaps that's just wise if rebuilding an engine though. I've previously just milled the casing to restore tolerances though.

Aparantly the problem with the new pump was the tollerance of the plunger, it was too tight and it stook closed and overpressured the engine by blowing the the seal out of the oilfilter housing the cure was to machine a few tho of the diameter and highly polish and slightly alter the angle of the seat. the pump was then blue printed as jim kalamatis states in his book, a fantastic job done good pressure and a engine that reves to 7000 rpm.
