Just bought a 2010 Alfa Romeo Veloce 2.0JTDM 170, with 150000 miles on it! It’s a second car that we will use as a runaround with the occasional longer trip (50 miles to Gatwick and back). It’s in Alfa Red with the nicer 18 inch turbine wheels. Seems to be a nice spec with the heated suede electric seats.

Any tips or known issues on these cars/engines? It’s just had it’s cambelt and water pump replaced a month ago as well as a service. To be honest as long as it lasts a year il be happy!

Thanks

we have similar with 135k on the clock.
missus drives it like not care in the world.
had for nearly 6 years and she does 50 miles a day average.

not that econimical.
only let us down twice.
lost all water and gear cable/linkage went.

apart from that, very solid.
a little poke when in dynamic mode
still looks better than most cars its age/size.

Thanks for the info. They seem to be quite solid little cars, I’m only slightly worried about the emissions side of stuff DPF EGR etc...

Touch wood, that side of things has been fine.
we are looking to change this year and cant see it being worth anything. a bit of a shame!

in an ideal world,
id keep it as a work horse.
buy her a model 3 tesla, sell the griff and the SL and buy an Aston.

We paid £2500 for ours, Private sale. Last car was a 2018 BMW 640i which depreciated £7000 in the one year we owned it so even if the Giulietta blows up in 6 months we will still be better off! laugh

So in terms of current problems, DRLs don’t work, flash a couple of times when turning the car on and then die. And there’s a knocking sound from the rear suspension and the source cannot be found... had it up on a ramp with a mechanic!

I think the DRL’s aren’t testable for the MOT on a car of that age so that perhaps one bill you need not worry about.

Plus you can turn the DRLs off in the menu if need be.

I bought a 2011 2.0 JTDM2 with 83k on the clock back in June. No major issues so far, the clutch peddle has a bit a squeak to it and the rear wiper is its own master but other than that very happy.

I previously leased a current generation i30 before that and I do miss the DAB and conectivity. But I find changing from normal to dynamic makes those feelings go away.
