For the roof apparently you now have to tick a box and pay for the carbon fibre roof. OK on a blind test who'd know but it was indicative of the lengths Alfa went to and on principle I'm sad to see the dilution of focus, or having to pay for it at least. Come resell I wonder how a QV buyer would be swayed by this spec?

I thought they all had carbon roofs and you paid for the exposed carbon fibre finish?

Pre-2020 yes, not any more on the MY20.

Supposedly when questioned Alfa said something along the lines of no one cared about it. It’s never mentioned in reviews etc.

Shame for us enthusiasts but still an incredible car regardless, wouldn’t put me off buying a used one without.

I understand a replacement is about £4k and ive seen quote between £2k and £3.5k, possibly for the exposed option. It would put me off a little in all honesty as the new M3 has no new tricks but to emulate the QV which is now losing the tricks. Must be money based or warranty/insurance whatever but it is a dilution in a facelift, that's not good.

Have you got a reference for that? Alfa UK website unclear and car review sites language also unclear; what I've read can easily be construed either way.

e.g. the Alfa UK refers to the 'exposed carbon fibre roof' as an option. Not the 'carbon fibre roof' as an option.

And I've not read what the roof becomes anywhere? Steel? Aluminium? Plastic?

There were links posted on giulia forums but I can’t remember for the life of me where unfortunately.

It’s an option painted or slightly more for an exposed carbon roof. The numbers are somewhere but can’t remember exactly. Not seen any clarification on whether it’s aluminium or steel otherwise though - do we know what it is in the standard car? I’d imagine it’s the same.

The chap from Research Alfa confirmed that the roof isn’t carbon on MY20 unless you option it. He knows what he’s talking about and has helped many people on the FB Giulia group source cars
