Evening all,

My 2010 Alfa Mito 1.6 diesel has just started running extremely loud and can’t rev past 2000rpm. Everything seemed to be running fine earlier and the symptoms seemed to materialise out of thin air when I downshifted at a roundabout (not sure if the downshift was just a coincidence). Immediately felt the loss of power and the engine noise increase - it’s very rough and clattery now.

I thought it could be the DPF but there’s no lights on the dash indicating any issue - although I still wouldn’t rule it out as I haven’t taken it on a long journey for a while now. The timing belt was done only 8,000 miles ago, although I don’t think the symptoms would match an issue with that?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated, I’m not the most mechanically inclined so am struggling with this. It being Sunday tomorrow with most garages near me closed doesn’t help the situation either biggrin.

Hi, recently I have started to live this problem. Could you solve this? If yes what was the solution? Thank you for response

Hi mate. It turned out to be the timing belt in the end. The garage that had done the change clearly hadn’t done a proper job. Would recommend checking that out first.
